“Divorce Day” – Mediation can shift the focus to positive outcomes

The first Monday in January is often dubbed in the media as “Divorce Day”  –  the day where family solicitors receive the most enquiries. Whilst January does tend to see an increase in enquiries, as people see the New Year as a chance for a new start, people should always be reminded that they can still deal with their separation in a way that keeps conflict to a minimum, and where children are involved, to think about their needs during such a difficult time.

It goes without saying, but children are particularly vulnerable to the impact of divorce and separation. Naturally, children will have concerns about the changes taking place in their family and will have worries about what lies ahead.

What is Family Mediation Week?
